    Hello everyone..

There is a news story just released from Hawaii

    HEADLINE:
Three fully vaccinated Hawaii residents infected with
    coronavirus

Officials added that it's not surprising that some vaccinated
Hawaiians have tested positive for the virus.

"Remember, 95% of people get immunity from the vaccines and 5%
don't from the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine," Lt. Gov. Josh Green
    told news station KHON2.

"Some people are going to dive on to this and say, oh, then the
vaccine doesn't work. No, it does work. It works in a huge
percentage of people, but not everyone and that's an important
    message," Green added.

OK.. but is the 5% failure due to a bad batch of vaccine? ..or
due to a variant that the vaccine does not cover? ..or for
goodness sake because the human is faulty somehow? :/

If it is really 95% of effectiveness, it is not that bad.

I think there are vaccines out there with much lower success percentages.

I have had a dog die for a disease she was vaccinated against, and other dogs of the pack got sick despite being vaccinated.
Some vaccines seem to be notoriously inefective or too narrowly focused.

I think the equine influenza vaccines my horses get are known not to be great either. They are supposed to provide immunity for
the year but immunity is known to be gone earlier than that. Thankfully, the only really important vaccine for horses around
here is the tetanus one, which seems quite effective. However, one of my mares reacts very badly to it. She gets really sore
and loses appetite for a couple of days every time she takes it.

95% gets you into the range of protecting the population from uncontrolled spread and the health care system from being overloaded. By that measure
    it's a success.
