Nope. I enjoy playing old text based adventures and if I want a graphic game, I fire up my C64.

"Pretty pictures" do not make a game, but making a good, fun, playable
game is hard (and companies need to actually pay someone good money
    to make one).

The Commodore 64 is a good bit before my time so I could never really get into text adventures. I did play a few BBS text adventure games on this old Mac I am typing on just to see what gaming was like when you had to use some imagination prior to proper graphics.

I'd kind of like to build an old P166 machine with Windows 95 and a 15" CRT monitor so I could authentically revisit the games that marked my childhood. I just adore the old Lucas Arts and Sierra point-and-click adventures along with classic shooters such as Duke Nukem.

IMO it is more cost effective to stick to games that are less resource intensive but still fun.
There is still a powerful Command and Conquer community doing multiplayer :-P I think the 5th
to 6th generation of consoles was the golden age since we got games that were sold in a
complete state which were actually fun without addons, yet they were very visual already.

Age of Empires II is one such game that refuses to die. There are people who bought it in 1999 who continued to play online for 20 years up until the release of the remastered version. There's a fairly large community of diehard fanatics keeping the competitive multiplayer alive. A great community, so I hear.

If most of what you watch is not real high resolution I think it is just better not to upgrade.

I actually noticed this when we switched from cable TV to OTA antenna. Some of the stations we got from cable were available OTA to us as we're close enough to Toronto to get them.

The quality of the picture is actually better OTA, it's just sharper/clearer /more vibrant than cable ever was.

It's supposed to provide better picture quality. They really need to release higher-quality remastered versions of the content for it to really work.

If most of what you watch is not real high resolution I think it is just better not to upgrade.

True. Though if you do watch high-resolution content, I don't think low-resolution content necessarily looks much worse than on an older TV.

30 Rock had a bit where they were testing out HD cameras. You'd see the
person looking normal in the background, then looking hideous on a monitor
in the forefround - Wicked Witch-like moles blotches, etc.

When Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) walked in front of the camera, they used

I didn't know that. I'd heard the rumor that they'd destroyed the
